Travel review: Copenhagen – a favorite thing
WOW!!! We walked over 15km on our one day in Copenhagen, and we can’t wait to go back! Read this travel review: Copenhagen to learn more about why we love this amazing city.
We were in port for the day in early September 2017. We walked from our port to Rosenborg Palace, Tivoli Gardens, and then enjoyed some leisurely strolling along Stroget. For the early-September day, it started out a bit cool, so we were bundled up. As the morning continued, the sun came out in full force and we enjoyed a beautiful late-summer day.
Tivoli Gardens
Tivoli Gardens was an eye-opener. An amusement park, but with well-maintained rides for the whole family. There were many teenagers out and about but it felt like a place adults come to enjoy a bit of fun. Many older adults were there with their younger children or grand-children. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the grounds, a drink and chat with a friend, or a ride or two for some fun. It seemed extremely civilized! As we moved on from Tivoli, past the municipal hall to Stroget, the wide open pedestrian walkways were full of happy folks enjoying the beautiful day.
What made it special
In many ways it reminded us of our part of the world – Vancouver and Victoria, BC. So lovely and green, with a lot of pedestrian traffic. However, it had so much old world charm and a vivid personality! The warm late summer day, and cheerful, friendly locals made it so very memorable and very much struck a chord of welcome.
We look to going back so we can experience more of what it has to offer!
