Check out the beautiful Wickaninnish Inn, Tofino!

In early October 2019, the family gathered for mom’s 90th birthday at the Wickinninish Inn. This event was arranged beautifully by my older brother and his wife. The ‘locals’ of the family here on Vancouver Island we decided to drive mom up for the event. Continue reading this Travel review: Tofino to find out more!

Despite October not always being the warmest of months here on the island, it was a sunny Friday morning to head up island. A short lunch stop in Coombs (Cuckoo Trattoria – yum!) and we continued on our way up to Tofino. We arrived mid-afternoon, and the family visiting and eating activities began!

Wick Inn

Wick Inn itself is lovely. A hotel has been on the point for ages, and this recent incarnation maximizes the views very well. A Relais & Chateaux hotel, it was beautifully decorated and we enjoyed their excellent service over the weekend.

This weekend was largely about ensuring my mom enjoyed time with all of us and that we all interacted with her. The added ‘wrapping’ of the gorgeous hotel, restaurants, and activities was icing on the cake. We were so happy that we were able to enjoy this time with mom and the family because we have some great memories from this experience!

Our Recommendations

Food:

We enjoyed the seasonality of the menu, and the wine service complemented the food well. There was a large family to contend with so arrangements were made for us to have our own table for brunch and dinner each of the three nights. Originally we thought that we would eat a meal elsewhere, but, the menu was excellent at The Pointe Restaurant.

Activities:

There is a lot to see and do in Tofino dependent on your interests. Check out the scenery and visit the beaches (Long Beach) and walk forever along their shores. Beachcombing with the family, and watching the surfers was fun as well (participate if you like – Surf Sister is great!). Radar Hill is great for site-seeing and hiking. A stroll around town was interesting as there is some well known artist galleries along with your commensurate t-shirt shops. Check out Tourism Tofino to see all you can do!

Accommodations:

In addition to Wick Inn, there are other beautiful hotels in Tofino. We can recommend Pacific Sands Beach Resort in Tofino. We spent a romantic weekend here many years ago in the Cox Suite, with our own deck hot tub – pure bliss!
