Travel review: Amalfi Coast – a favourite thing

If I passed on from this world tomorrow, Troy would move here the next day (or maybe somewhere in Greece!). Amazing food, friendly locals, and a really beautiful way of living a simple and full life. Our very first time here was in 2005 when we stopped in via a cruise. We passed by Sorrento, Amalfi and Positano, with a couple stops and a quick tour or two and it was done. The sun made all our pictures so beautiful and those stops were so memorable, we knew we would be back. Read this travel review: Amalfi Coast for more information.

Flash forward a few years and we scheduled a long stay in the town of Amalfi following some time in Naples.

Recommendations

Accommodations:

We decided to rent an apartment so we could enjoy all the fresh local produce and fish. Amalfi Coast Rentals was excellent, as was our rental. However, we don’t want every one to know about it in case we can never book it again. So, you have to email us for the details! 🙂 If you want to splurge, check out NH Collection Grand Hotel. It had the same view as our apartment in Amalfi, just a few more amenities!

Activities:

They are so varied. We took the local bus up to Ravello for the day for some wine tasting. We walked into town each day for our groceries, and walked along the water to the various resorts. With Amalfi having ferries to Positano, Sorrento and Capri, everything is so close and easy to figure out. We waited to see what each day delivered and decided on the spot. From Amalfi, it all is so accessible.

Eating:

The food was pure bliss. We like our home made breakfasts on vacation, and there was no problem finding all the fixings – eggs, fresh made bread, bacon from the local butcher. Dinners were varied – Pizza from Da Maria, a beautiful romantic dinner at Da Ciccio Restaurant and lovely lunches in the local Tavernas – we didn’t have a single bad meal!
